How to get the most out of evnt.id.
Getting started
- Post a quick hello in Introductions. One paragraph about who you are, where you are (or where you're moving), and what you're trying to figure out. The community responds best to specific questions.
- Pick a country and follow it. Country hubs (like Colombia, Italy, Panama) collect everything geo-tagged for that country. Use the globe icon in the navbar to browse by country.
- Set up your profile. Click your avatar (top right) → My Profile. Add a photo and a short bio. People answer specific questions from familiar faces.
Posting
Click the + Create button (top of any feed) to open the composer. You can switch formats from the dropdown:
- Article — text post with formatting, images, links
- Poll — Classic (one answer per voter), Versus (2-option head-to-head), or Hot or Not (binary)
- List — Ranked or Open. Open lists let members add their own items.
- Quiz — Trivia (right/wrong) or Personality (assigns an outcome)
- Recipe — ingredients + steps in a clean recipe layout
- Shoppable image — image with clickable product pins
Location metadata (More options in the composer): tag your post with a country and city. Geo-tagged posts surface in country hubs and in the Browse-by-country view, regardless of which space they were posted in.
Where to post: spaces in the left sidebar are organised by topic. If you're not sure where something goes, Water Cooler is fine — admins can move it. Each space lists which formats it allows.
Events + paid RSVPs
Events live in the Events-type spaces (e.g. VIP Monthly Zoom Calls). Some events require a deposit to confirm your RSVP — you'll see the deposit amount and refund policy on the event page before you commit. Refund policies are one of:
- Full refund up to 48 hours before the event (most common)
- Full refund up to 24 hours before
- Full refund up to 48 hours; 50% after
- Non-refundable
If the host cancels the event, every confirmed RSVP gets a full refund regardless of policy. Cancellations within the refund window run automatically through Stripe.
Notifications
By default you get an in-app notification (the bell in the top nav) when someone replies to your post, reacts to it, RSVPs to your event, or @-mentions you in chat or forum threads. To change this:
- Click your avatar → Settings
- Open Notifications
- Pick which event types fan out to email vs in-app only
Memberships and plans
Three tiers right now:
- Free — full access to all topic spaces, country hubs, country sub-spaces, and global utility content (Announcements, Introductions, Water Cooler, Free Resources)
- Pro — adds the Pro Lounge, AMA Archive (post-AMA Q&A archives), early access to vetted directories when they ship, and the bundled Move-to-Colombia course when it launches in February
- VIP — adds the VIP Inner Circle, monthly Zoom calls (Pro/VIP), and Zoom replays
Upgrade or change tier from Settings → Plan. Cancel anytime; access continues through the end of the current billing period.
Reactions, comments, DMs
- Reactions: hover any post for the reaction picker. One reaction per emoji per post.
- Comments: threaded up to 3 levels deep. Reply to a comment by clicking its Reply link.
- Direct messages: click any member's avatar to open their profile, then Send Message. 1:1 and small-group DMs supported.
Browse by country
The globe icon in the navbar opens a country picker. Clicking a country shows every post tagged with that country across all spaces — filterable by space, post format, city, and time range. Useful for "show me everything Colombia-related this week."
Trouble or feedback
If something's broken or confusing, drop a post in Water Cooler — fastest response. For account or billing issues that need to be handled privately, email None.
