A private community for people moving abroad — by people who've actually done it.

evnt.id is a small, invite-friendly community for expats, future expats, and the locals who help them. It's built around real conversations — not travel-blog optimism, not Reddit lawyering — about visas, neighbourhoods, healthcare, taxes, schools, banking, food, and everything else that comes up when you try to make a new country feel like home.

How this started

The community grew out of The Americano, Matt's YouTube channel about moving to and living in Latin America. The channel kept attracting the same kinds of questions — and the same kinds of people answering them — so we built a place where those conversations can live somewhere better than YouTube comments.

Right now evnt.id is Colombia-focused. Italy launches alongside The Americano's Italy guidebook — we're holding off until there's real content, no empty country hubs. Spain and Portugal follow in Q1 next year, tied to YouTube content rollouts. By Q2 we'll have five country hubs and the vetted directories (immigration attorneys, dentists, visa services) live for Pro+ members.

What this place is for

• Real talk from people doing it. Most threads are practical — "I tried this, here's what happened." The newer arrivals ask, the longer-timers answer, and everyone learns from the people who've been here a few weeks longer.
• Country and city are post metadata, not separate sub-spaces. Asking about Colombian visas? Goes in Visas & Immigration with country=Colombia. The whole point is that wisdom transfers across borders.
• No drive-by promo. If you sell something useful, it'll have a home in the vetted directories — not in the threads.
• Spanish welcome. Code-switch all you want. We're here.

Memberships

Most spaces here are free for any member. Some content sits behind Pro or VIP — that's where the long-form roadmap conversations, AMAs with practitioners, and monthly Zoom calls live. The recently-launched Phase 7c paid-RSVP system also runs through here for in-person dinners and small-group events with capped seating.

Who runs it

evnt.id is operated by evnt.id. The platform itself — accounts, hosting, payments, the software you're looking at — is provided by CloudSocial, which evnt.id licenses as its community platform.
